How this course works
One neighbourhood, one story, one cast — from your first Polish word to holding your own in a kitchen full of people talking over each other. Here is how an episode works, and why it sticks.
One street, eight people, no reset
Everything happens around the same tenement staircase, the same corner shop and the same kitchen table. Tom is the newcomer whose Polish is exactly as far along as yours; Pani Basia, Pan Zbyszek, Kuba and Magda keep turning up. Familiar place, familiar voices — so each episode only has to add a little language, not a whole new world.
Comprehensible from the first minute
Polish has a reputation you can safely ignore for now. Scenes are set in English, then the cast speaks Polish you’ve been prepared for, with the picture and the situation carrying anything new. You never have to look up a word to follow what is happening.
You say it out loud, every episode
Speak-along beats pause the story and wait for you to repeat the line. Polish consonant clusters are a physical skill — szcz, prz, ł — and the only way to get them is to move your mouth, slowly at first, from lesson one.
Spaced review, disguised as plot
A phrase from episode 3 returns in 4, 6 and 11, because someone needs to say it again. Every few lessons a review episode retells the story so far in Polish only. Cases and aspect are never taught as a grammar table first — you meet a form dozens of times in real sentences, then it gets named.
The traps Polish sets for English speakers
Every lesson flags one: seven cases doing the work your word order does, verbs that come in pairs (robić / zrobić), “no” meaning “yeah”, and the ł that is really a w. Named the moment it bites, a trap stays a curiosity instead of becoming a habit.
