And if anyone knows about packing a day full of motion, it's Jad. We find him at Abu Naji's café, looking slightly wired and tapping his foot.

The word for 'then' or 'afterward' is ba3dén. It starts with that deep throat sound. Try to feel it vibrate: ba3dén.

And coffee is 2ahwe. Again, that glottal stop at the start—a little catch in your throat. Put it together, and say it with me: ba3dén bishrab 2ahwe.

'At night I go back home.' This finishes the cycle of his day.

The phrase starts with bi-l-lél, at night. Then the verb, I return: birja3. It has a strong, deep sound at the very end. Listen closely: birja3.

The verb is bta3mel for a male listener. If Jad were asking a woman, he would say bta3meli. And the word for 'usually' is 3édatan.
