In the story
Tom
Poproszę kawę i wodę.
He did it! Did you hear that? He didn't say kawa, he said kawę. And he didn't say woda, he said wodę. This is the real trick to sounding natural. Say his order with me: Poproszę kawę i wodę.
In Polish, when you ask for something, the word changes slightly to show it's the target of your action. The 'a' at the end of kawa changes to an 'ę'. It sounds like a nasal 'eh'. Kawę.
