Rosa runs the café behind the blue door, the anchor of the whole barrio and Teo's first refuge. She decides early that she likes him and quietly slides from a polite stranger's usted to a friend's tú, which is your first felt taste of how register works in Spanish. Her warmth turns a nervous newcomer into a regular.
